LFEPA v New Look

The Court of Appeal Criminal Division, 18th June 2010 (Pitchford LJ, Rafferty J and HHJ Goldstone QC)

Judgment was given today in the awaited sentence appeal in this case. The Court rejected the appeal against the sentence of £400,000 imposed in respect of breaches of the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005. This is the first occasion that the Court of Appeal has considered the nature of the order and the approach that should be adopted in relation to sentencing corporate offending in such fire cases.

John Cooper appeared as counsel in the case and junior counsel in the appeal instructed by Bond Pearce Solicitors.
