He specialises in criminal regulatory law (particularly health and safety) and inquests. He has a background in civil litigation and regularly advises and represents clients at all stages of criminal and civil proceedings following a serious or fatal incident.
He has extensive experience of long, complex jury inquests. In the last 18 months he has acted as Counsel to the Inquest into the Lakanal House fire and junior counsel for Sheffield City Council in the Hillsborough inquests.
From 1999 to 2010 he was a member of the Attorney General’s Panels of Counsel (Civil) and gained invaluable experience in complex high-profile cases including the Hutton Inquiry, the Shipman Inquiry, the BSE Inquiry, the Mubarek Inquiry and the Lincoln Prison Group Litigation.
In June 2012, he was appointed to List A of the Regulatory List of specialist regulatory advocates in health and safety and environmental law.
